Shrewsbury Town Academy held a celebratory alumni match on The Community Pitch outside the Croud Meadow last weekend.

The playercare event saw former academy players, scholars and staff return to the pitch for a fun afternoon in connection with the Oddballs Foundation.

This made the event more than just a game; we were raising awareness for an important cause, alongside colleagues from the PFA and LFE, who continue to support players in their development both on and off the pitch.

It was a chance to reunite with familiar faces, share memories and celebrate the journeys of those who’ve passed through our academy.

The match itself did not disappoint. Packed with excitement, it went goal for goal in a thrilling 5-5 draw, capped off with a penalty shootout. Beyond the scoreline, the spirit, camaraderie and quality of football on display were a true credit to everyone involved.

It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect and network with former players and colleagues, and we’re proud to say it’s only the beginning. We look forward to building on this success and making the academy alumni match a permanent fixture in our club calendar.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this such a memorable occasion.
