Adjustments to enhanced security checks at the Croud Meadow

Shrewsbury Town will introduce slight adjustments to the enhanced security checks taking place at the Croud Meadow, with the updated procedures in place for tomorrow’s game against Grimsby.

As a club, we are committed to ensuring the safety of all supporters and will continue to strengthen checks in line with the requirements of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill.

Enhanced checks were initially introduced last month. And following those games, the club had the opportunity to engage with supporters and review best practices to ensure security measures are as effective and fan-friendly as possible.

In response to that supporter feedback, initial searches previously conducted at the outer entry points will now be replaced by ticket checks (with the exception of Super Blues Way), allowing fans to enter the stadium footprint more quickly.

If you intend to purchase a ticket on the day, please inform the steward conducting the check.

Once inside the perimeter, searches will take place as supporters approach key areas of fan activity, including the FanZone and the stadium turnstiles.

Supporters arriving by car or on a coach will also follow this updated process.

Vehicles will be checked for valid tickets or car park passes at the car park gates.

Supporters will then be searched in the same way as those entering on foot - either on their approach to the stadium or FanZone.

Further details:

  • Bag checks and wanding will continue on Super Blues Way, as it remains the only practical location for this early stage of screening

  • Entry points at Lidl and Oteley Road will now move to ticket checks rather than initial searches

  • All other bag checks - and wanding will take place - upon entry into the stadium at the turnstiles, outside Brew & Amber cafe, or when entering key fan areas such as the FanZone

All supporters are being urged to head to the stadium early to assist with the new security screening measures.

As stated at the Supporters’ Parliament meeting, all measures being implemented are with the aim of significantly reducing risk and keeping our matchdays as safe as possible.
