Match Preview | Barrow (H)
Salop are aiming to get back to winning wats when we host Barrow tonight. Here’s everything you need to know about the visitors.
Key Players:
Barrow will be without some key players for Tuesday’s match. Isaac Fletcher, who had scored three in his previous five appearances, remains on the sidelines after missing Saturday’s defeat to Notts County.
Midfielder Ben Whitfield, one of Barrow’s biggest attacking threats, is also a doubt, having picked up a knock in training.
Charlie McCann will look to build on his goal against Notts this weekend. It was the midfielder’s fourth since joining the club from Forest Green.
The side has plenty of experience, with former Salop defender Niall Canavan likely to start at centre-back, and 34-year-old Danny Rose likely to be up top.
The Manager:
Former Preston and Stoke midfielder Paul Gallagher was appointed as Barrow manager at the start of January.
It is Gallagher’s first full-time managerial role, having previously been in a coaching position at Stoke and briefly taking charge of the first team for two games as caretaker in December 2023.
Form:
Barrow come into Tuesday’s game having won just one of their last ten, and losing their last five matches.
After a mixed start to the campaign, Barrow’s form dipped in Mid-October, with the team picking up just one win since they won away at Walsall on October 18.
Head-to-Head Record:
League encounters with Barrow have been few and far between over the years.
Tonight will be the first time in 55 years since we welcomed the team to Shropshire in a league fixture.
Our last league win was in 1968, with our last competitive win being a 3-1 win in the FA Cup in the 2002/03 season. Our record against Barrow is five wins, five losses, and three draws.
