Match Preview | Cambridge (A)
Salop are back on the road for the second time in four days tonight when we take on Cambridge United.
Here’s everything you need to know about our opponents ahead of kick-off.
Key Players:
Former Salop loanee Sully Kaikai is one of several players in a strong vein of form for the Us right now. The 30-year-old has scored six in his last 10 in all competitions and is one of the team’s key attacking outlets.
Ben Knight, signed from Murcia in the summer, has forced his way into Neil Harris’s starting XI in recent weeks and has hit the net three times in his last four matches, including in this weekend’s 4-2 win over Tranmere.
Elsewhere, James Brophy is one of the team’s most important players, grabbing two assists on Saturday afternoon, while defender Kelland Jones was the unexpected hero in front of goal, bagging a second-half brace to help them secure all three points.
The Manager:
Neil Harris is in his second spell as Cambridge manager. Harris originally managed the team for 14 games at the start of 2024 before heading back to his former club Milwall. He returned to Cambridge in February, with former manager Mark Bonner joining as Director of Football.
Form:
Cambridge are the league’s form team. The Us are unbeaten in 12 league games, with their last defeat coming away at Notts County at the end of October.
They have won five of their last six league matches and currently sit fourth in the table, level on points with third-placed MK Dons.
Head-to-Head Record:
Salop and Cambridge have gone head-to-head 42 times since our first league clash in 1973.
We have beaten tonight's opponents 13 times, while Cambridge have won 18, and 11 games have ended in a draw.
Our last match against them ended in a 2-0 win for us in October, thanks to goals from Will Boyle and George Lloyd.
