Match Preview | MK Dons (A)
Salop look to build on last Saturday’s win over Harrogate when they make the trip to promotion-chasing MK Dons this Saturday.
Here’s everything you need to know about Saturday’s opponents.
Key Players:
MK have one of the strongest and most experienced squads in League Two. The club grabbed the headlines when it signed Aaron Collins over the summer, but the 28-year-old was sidelined after just a few games with an injury.
After returning at the end of November, he looks to have found his scoring boots over the last month, hitting the next five times in his last seven, including two in his last two matches.
He is likely to be joined up top by experienced frontman Callum Paterson. The 31-year-old has scored eight so far this season, including three in his last eight matches.
Alex Gilbey, who is now in his third season in Milton Keynes, is also having a strong campaign. The midfielder has scored eight so far this season and has contributed three assists.
The Manager:
Paul Warne is the man in the dugout for MK this Saturday. Warne is best-known for his time at Rotherham, where he guided The Millers to three promotions between 2017 and 2022. After leaving Rotherham, he had success at Derby, guiding them to promotion from League One in the 23/24 season.
He joined MK over the summer in what was seen as a coup for the club, and many will expect him to achieve promotion for the fifth time in his career.
Form:
While MK is currently fifth in the league, it is fair to say they have not quite lived up to their pre-season billing - with inconsistency and injuries having held them back.
They come into Saturday’s game on the back of a 2-0 win away at Accrington, but were winless since Boxing Day before that, drawing two and losing two. They have found form at Stadium:MK now, though, and are unbeaten there since the end of September.
Head-to-Head Record:
Saturday’s game marks our 24th encounter with MK since 2006. MK have won nine of those games, with us winning seven, and seven ending in a draw.
