Salop look to progress to the FA Cup third round for the eighth time in ten seasons this weekend when they take on National League side Sutton United.

Here’s everything you need to know about today's opposition ahead of the late kick-off.

Key Players

Midfielder Lewis Simper has been Sutton’s biggest threat in front of goal this season. The former Cambridge man has scored eight goals in 21 appearances so far, including eight in his last ten matches. He has played a pivotal role in the U's recent rise up the table and will be one of the first names on the team sheet for our encounter.

Striker Kayden Harris also comes into the game on a strong run of form. The 26-year-old has hit the net three times in his last two matches, including a brace in last weekend’s 4-2 win at home to Gateshead.

The Manager

Sutton manager Chris Agutter is already looking like a manager destined for bigger things. The 37-year-old took charge of Sutton on October 2nd, with the former Football League side sitting 22nd in the league.

Since his arrival, the club has lost just one league game, taking 15 points from a possible 21 and rising up to 17th in the league.

The 37-year-old took the job after guiding Worthing to a club-record 88 points in the National League South last season, missing out on promotion on the final day before losing to eventual play-off winners Maidstone in the eliminator round.

Form

Sutton comes into Saturday’s game full of confidence. Since Agutter arrived in October, the team have won four of their last seven games, and has put some breathing room between themselves and the relegation zone.

York City, who have won all of their last five games, are the only side above them in the National League form table.

Head-to-Head Record

Saturday’s match will be our first visit to Gander Green Lane. We have never faced Sutton in a competitive fixture, with their stint in League Two occurring while we were still in League One.
