Salop are on the road for the first time this season with almost 1,200 tickets sold for today's trip to take on Andy Crosby’s Tranmere Rovers.

Here’s everything you need to know about this afternoon's opponents ahead of kick-off.

Key Players

Experienced front-man Connor Jennings opened his account for the season against Colchester last week, and Andy Crosby will be hoping he can recapture his form from two seasons ago. The 33-year-old grabbed 12 in 44 games during his first year at Prenton Park, but stuttered a little last season, grabbing just four goals.

Omari Patrick also brings plenty of experience to the side, with the former Sutton man being a key player in Tranmere’s late charge last season. He bagged 11 goals last season and will no doubt be a key threat this campaign.

A familiar face is likely to line up against us Saturday afternoon, with former loanee Nohan Kenneh joining Tranmere over the summer. Kenneh made 28 appearances for Salop during the 2023/24 campaign.

The Manager

Andy Crosby is the man in the dugout for Tranmere this weekend. Crosby took the job at the end of February following the departure of experienced manager Nigel Adkins. He was able to guide the club to safety with several games to spare, creating some excitement around the club heading into this season.

His record at Tranmere so far has been impressive, winning six, drawing six and losing just two of his first 14 games in charge.

Prior to taking the job, Crosby had a short-lived spell at Port Vale, where he managed just 14 wins in 44 games at the Staffordshire club.

Form

Andy Crosby’s men started their campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw away at Colchester.

Rovers will hope to build on their impressive form from the back end of last season, with the team losing just two of their last 11 games, winning five and drawing four to steer well clear of the relegation zone.

Their home form has been solid since Crosby took the reins in late February, with the side losing just once at Prenton Park during his tenure.

Head-to-Head Record

Our history with Tranmere dates all the way back to 1950, with our first encounter ending in a 2-1 defeat at Gay Meadow.

We have played Rovers 43 times over the years, winning 11 and losing 22, with the other ten games ending in a draw.
