Post-Bromley | Michael Appleton
Boss Michael Appleton described Shrewsbury's season opener against Bromley as a battle of attrition after the two teams played out a goalless draw at the Croud Meadow.
In what was a tight contest throughout, Salop had their moments with John Marquis and George Nurse closest to breaking the deadlock.
There was a bizarre moment midway through the first half when linesman Scott Chaulkley picked up an injury and couldn't carry on.
That led to a significant break in play - around 17 minutes - while a new official was found and readied.
Salop fan - and qualified level five referee - Alan Cork stepped out of the crowd to take on the role.
Speaking to the press post-match, Michael said he was pleased with his side's defensive performance and the clean sheet.
And the boss also said there is a lot more to come from the team in the attacking third.
