Michael Appleton met with the media following the Carabao Cup tie at Grimsby.

Goals from Justin Amaluzor, Cameron Gardner and Jaze Kabia won it for the hosts - with Tom Sang grabbing Town's consolation.

Speaking to the assembled press, Appleton said he learnt a lot from the performance as he now prepares his side for a league clash against Colchester on Saturday.

The boss also expressed his frustration that Grimsby's second goal was allowed to stand - despite two Mariners' players appearing to be offside.

And the head coach praised goalkeeper Elyh Harrison, who impressed on his Town debut in goal.
