Post-South Shields | Michael Appleton
Boss Michael Appleton conducted his media duties after watching his Shrewsbury side secure a thoroughly deserved win at South Shields.
The FA Cup first round clash had the potential to be a banana skin with the hosts flying high in National League North and backed by a sell-out home crowd.
But Salop went on to dominate proceedings in a thoroughly professional manner with an Anthony Scully brace and Tom Sang strike ensuring they went into the break with a three-goal lead.
Luke Woolston did net a consolation for the hosts.
But, in truth, Town should have won by an even greater margin with Tommy McDermott, Mal Benning and Ismeal Kabia all going close.
Speaking post-match, Michael reflected on his side's impressive performance.
The boss also talked about the eye-catching displays of Scully and Kabia and praised Josh Ruffels - who made his first start for the club in central midfield.
