Michael Appleton met with the media following the EFL Trophy clash against Walsall.

On what was a hugely frustrating night at the Croud Meadow, Salop played some outstanding football for an hour, particularly after striker Brad Ihionvien had cancelled out an early opener from Ryan Finnigan.

Will Boyle and Tommy McDermott both hit the crossbar. McDermott also had an effort cleared off the line by a defender.

And Saddlers keeper Sam Hornby made a string of good saves to keep the score at 1-1.

But individual errors cost Town dear with Mat Sadler's side going on to claim the points in Southern Group C.

Speaking to the media, Michael discussed the game, his frustration at the result and reflected on the summer transfer window.
