Report | Hednesford Town 0-1 Shrews Women
Shrewsbury Town Women secured their second league win of the season with victory away at Hednesford Town Ladies on Sunday.
Shrews Women travelled to newly-promoted Hednesford for their third league game of the campaign last weekend.
Boss Daryl Tidman-Poole made one change from the side that thumped Albrighton Town Ladies in the FA Cup a week prior, with Australian Abbie Lutton making her first start for the club.
Town came out of the blocks fast, with Mia Evans hitting the crossbar in the third minute.
Incredibly, Salop were denied by the bar once more just a minute later as Jeorgia Carr's powerful strike rattled the woodwork.
The only goal of the game came just after the hour mark as Katie Doster converted her third goal of the season.
Maddie Jones collected the ball on the right wing before delivering a cross perfectly onto Doster's head.
The forward barely had to break stride as she looped her header over Hednesford goalkeeper Natalie Laylor and into the back of the net.
Town saw out their victory to climb to fourth in the table in the early stages.
Line-up: Monro, Lutton, Owen, Raby, Griffiths, Woodward, Wright, Evans, Carr, Doster, Jones
Bench: Jennings-Davies, Wallace, Brown, Joseph, Stanley
