Report | MK Dons 2-1 Under-18s

Shrewsbury Town Under-18s exited the FA Youth Cup after suffering a narrow defeat away at Stadium MK.

The first 20 minutes of play were evenly balanced between the two teams, with Shrewsbury’s first chance coming in the 12th minute when Simba Nyamwanza’s shot went over the bar.

Despite Town's fast start, the deadlock was broken in the 25th minute when Kian Osbourne scored following a scramble from a corner.

Less than 10 minutes later, Jack Mackin doubled the hosts' advantage from another corner, giving MK Dons a comfortable lead heading into the break and leaving Salop with much to do.

The second half began with the young Shrews displaying great determination as they sought to overturn their poor start.

Two quick corner chances were saved by MK Dons’ keeper Ryan Kelly, preventing Salop from pulling one back early in the half.

The opportunities kept coming as Jay Snook found the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Haydn Lewis, Will Hardeman, and Jeval Thompson-McKenzie all had opportunities to score, but an over-excited offside flag made things even more difficult for Town.

Shrewsbury had pinned MK in their own half after the break, and the pressure eventually told as Isaac England curled the ball off the inside of the post and into the back of the net, his composed finish giving the young Shrews hope.

Unfortunately, Salop couldn’t capitalise further on their second-half momentum, and they paid the price for a slow first half as they exited the FA Youth Cup.

Starting XI: Hill (GK), Valentine, Edwards, England, Falding, Hardeman, Nyamwanza, Gray, Thompson-McKenzie, Lewis, Leon
