Report | Under-18s 6-0 Port Vale

The under-18s returned to winning ways in the league with a monumental 6-0 victory over Port Vale on Saturday.

Shrewsbury got off to a quick start, with Thompson-McKenzie scoring in the first four minutes by guiding the ball past the keeper into the bottom right corner.

Just 10 minutes later, Will Hardeman sent in a sublime cross to the back post, where Harry Fallon was waiting to convert a headed chance to double the score!

Momentum stayed with Shrewsbury throughout the first half. In the 28th minute, Thompson-McKenzie squared a ball across the box, which was diverted home by an opposition defender.

In the dying moments of the first half, Thompson-McKenzie set up Haydn Lewis, who smashed the ball into the top corner, getting on the score sheet for the fourth consecutive game!

This meant Salop went into the break with a strong 4-0 lead.

The second half was more balanced, with both teams creating chances. Notably for Shrewsbury, substitute Kaysha Kameni attempted a chip that couldn't find it's mark, and Thompson-McKenzie struck the crossbar during the first half-hour of the second period.

Shrewsbury’s persistence paid off when Kameni found the net in the 80th minute, sliding the ball into the bottom right corner to make it 5-0.

Substitute Kemel Leon contributed in the later stages by setting up Thompson-McKenzie for his second goal, sealing a commanding 6-0 victory over Port Vale.

Sean McAllister’s side now have a break from league action until January 3rd, when they travel to face Salford City, aiming to keep their unbeaten streak alive.

Starting XI: Cipolla-Corrall (GK), Chaffatt, Hardeman, Stretton, Hall, Cairns, Fallon, Hughes, Snook, Lewis, Thompson-McKenzie
