Report | Under-18s begin October with friendly win
Shrewsbury Town Under-18s secured a 2-1 victory over visiting exhibition side London County in Saturday's friendly match.
Town started brightly, with Simba Nyamwanza firing a shot just wide in the second minute.
At the other end, Tom Hill was called into action early, making a fine save to keep the score level, before Stan Horrocks hit the woodwork.
While the first half was largely even, London County found the breakthrough, curling the ball past Hill to take a 1-0 lead just before half-time.
In the second half, Salop enjoyed more possession and created several promising opportunities.
Their persistence paid off in the 76th minute when Kaysha Kameni calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner to equalise.
Encouraged by this, Shrewsbury quickly struck again, with Nyamwanza adding a second goal to make it 2-1 within five minutes.
Town showed impressive resilience to come from behind and claim the win.
They’ll hope to carry this mentality and momentum into next week’s away fixture against Bradford City Under-18s.
Line-up: Hill (GK), Chaffatt, Aiston, Byrne, Abbey, Softley, Leon, Tait, Kameni, Nyamwanza, Horrocks
