Shrews Women unveil two new signings!
Shrewsbury Town Women are delighted to announce the signing of Molly Wright and Sophie Woodward, who join the club ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Molly Wright, a centre midfielder, joins us from Sporting Khalsa.
Molly joined Khalsa at a young age and she stayed there until she was 23. Most recently, Molly played for Walsall FC Women, where she contributed to their second-place finish, just missing out on promotion.
When speaking to the club, Molly said: "I believe it’s a great opportunity for me to develop as a footballer – the team’s ambitions and the structure really appealed to me; I can see myself improving a lot here.
"I came to watch the girls here last season in the FA Cup and it was something that I wanted to be a part of.
"I’m a central midfielder who loves getting on the ball and driving the team forward – I’m confident with the ball at my feet and enjoy creating chances for my teammates.
"I’m most looking forward to the challenge of playing in a league above what I have before and seeing how far the team can go this season - especially with the amazing FA Cup run the girls had last season.
"I’m excited to be a part of a team that’s pushing to achieve."
Sophie Woodward, a right back, joins us following her three-year stint at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Sophie started playing for Wolves when she was nine. A move to Birmingham City for a handful of years preceded her return to Wolves, where she contributed to winning the Under-16 National Cup.
Sophie said: "I’m really enjoying it here so far.
"There's a big team spirit and everyone has been so welcoming.
"For me, I feel Shrewsbury was the perfect first step for me to take into adult football.
"I’m calm on the ball and I’m always looking forward and creating chances for the team.
‘I’m most excited about working with the coaching team, winning games and making loads of memories."
Everyone at Shrewsbury Town Women would like to wish Molly and Sophie the best in their journey with us.
