Shrewsbury players pay festive visit to children's hospital

Hospital Visit 2025

Shrewsbury Town players helped spread festive cheer with a special visit to young patients at The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford earlier today.

The Salop squad, alongside head coach Michael Appleton and assistant Richard O’Donnell, spent time on the children’s ward in the build-up to Christmas Day, bringing smiles to youngsters spending the festive period in hospital.

The players certainly didn’t arrive empty-handed, turning up with sacks full of presents to help brighten the day.

Earlier this week, the squad organised a collection to ensure they could deliver some Christmas joy to youngsters on the hospitals wards.

The club was also grateful to receive generous donations from The Entertainer toy shop in Shrewsbury, Primark in Shrewsbury, Booker wholesalers in Shrewsbury and the Co-op store in Wem, helping to create a sleigh-load of gifts.

Some of the presents were handed out during the visit, while others have been set aside to be opened on Christmas Day itself.

The visit brought joy not only to the young patients, but also to hospital staff and the players, who created some special memories with children who are sadly unable to be at home over the festive period.

Shrewsbury Town would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone at The Princess Royal Hospital for welcoming the club and allowing us to be part of their Christmas celebrations.

A special mention also goes to our head of football administration Jayne Bebb, who not only helped collect all the presents but wrapped the vast majority of them too.
