Shrewsbury Town Earn Silver Award for Armed Forces Support
Shrewsbury Town are proud to have been presented with the silver award from the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme, celebrating the club’s ongoing support for the Armed Forces community.
Having held Bronze status for several years, stepping up to silver marks an important milestone in our commitment to service personnel, veterans, reservists, and their families.
The award reflects a wide range of initiatives delivered by the club and our foundation - from policies supporting Armed Forces families, to open-day activities and our much-loved annual Armed Forces Day.
Representatives from Shrewsbury Town accepted the honour at a ceremony held at the National Memorial Arboretum on Wednesday, September 17.
Shrewsbury Town CEO Liam Dooley said: "First and foremost, we are immensely proud of the work we do with our armed forces community.
"Having RAF and Army bases close to our town helps us with our outreach programmes - with the work of our foundation in this area is especially strong.
"Our Chairman, Roland Wycherley, has maintained a great relationship with RAF Shawbury over many, many years and is a big champion of our armed forces community.
"Our Armed Forces matchday is a great example of the collaborative working and representation at our open day remains high.
"This award for us cements the commitment that all organisations internally and externally demonstrate and we want this to continue for years to come by offering more opportunities to the armed forces community and their families."
