Item one: An update from Liam Dooley (LD)

  • LD confirmed more staff members will now be attending Supporters Parliament meetings

  • LD pointed the room to his latest open letter for an update on the takeover but then opened the floor to questions

  • LD confirmed STFC is working with a number of companies to help sell the football club

  • LD confirmed the chairman has agreed a sale price with three different parties in the past four weeks, but getting those parties to commit funds has been challenging

  • LD confirmed the club has people working in other countries to help assist a sale

  • LD confirmed there is one party in particular who are progressing ahead of the others but no exclusivity is in place at present

  • LD reiterated there are several clubs currently on the market who are also struggling to find a new owner/investment

  • LD reiterated Shrewsbury Town is in an almost-unique position of being for sale with no debt

Item two: A safety update from David Hoult (DH) following stricter checks being implemented at the Croud Meadow

  • DH thanked former safety officer Lawrence Ellerby for all his hard work before he took over in June

  • DH said changes at the stadium need to be made following the Protection of Premises Bill which came into force in April

  • The club is also working to ensure it is compliant with Martin’s Law which is coming into force in 2027

  • DH said he identified areas where he believes the club was vulnerable when taking into account world events. He said because of that, there have been enhanced searches taking place around the perimeter of the stadium.

  • DH reiterated his job is to keep every fan safe

  • LD said while enhanced checks can be frustrating –they are taking place to ensure everyone in the stadium is as safe as possible and this has to be our priority. He asked everyone to keep this in mind when being checked

  • DH confirmed checks, including ‘wanding’ and bag checks will become more streamlined

  • DH said he understood fans were frustrated that supporters arriving on buses weren’t checked at the perimeter but those fans would be checked at the turnstiles. There will additional at various points in place for this weekend's game against Gillingham

  • DH said he would look at implementing a tagging system so fans don’t have their bags checked twice. This will be in place for the Gillingham game

  • DH said searches will be taking place before people enter the FanZone at future games

  • LD said the ‘prohibited items’ list will be sent to the coach providers so posters can be placed on their vehicles

  • LD said items confiscated included three full-size bottles of Baileys and numerous bottles of wine as well as glass bottles of beer

  • DH confirmed rucksacks are fine to bring into the stadium as are small umbrellas. Golf and cane umbrellas are not permitted; small telescopic ones are okay

  • DH said plastic flasks containing 500mls of liquid are allowed in. Metal flasks of any size are not permitted

  • DH confirmed cans or any glass containers are not allowed in

  • LD confirmed these measures are not being taken so people have to spend more money on the concourse. We take the same money from our caterers no matter how much money is spent in the current deal

  • DH confirmed all confiscated items will stored safely in the stadium

Item three: matchday parking

  • DH said stewards will be reminded which car parking spaces have been sold so other people do not park in them

  • Martin Gaunt (MG) said the club have sold fewer parking spaces this year than ever before – which he believes is down to people parking in the wrong spaces. He said it is something he and DH will look into

  • Shin Aujla (SA) said there has been a problem with parents who attend the foundation’s football festivals taking up spaces on the car park. The foundation will send out an email to make parents clear of the rules

Item four: Catering on the concourses

  • LD said the issue is likely to be supply and demand. But he would speak to the contractors to see if they can offer more healthy options

  • Chris Allen provided an update from the Shrewsbury Town Official Supporters Club (OSC).

  • Helen Hall provided an update from the Shrewsbury Town Female Focus Group

Item five: season ticket sales

  • LD said season tickets are down 9 per cent compared to last year

  • LD said the club had budgeted for a 20 per cent drop following relegation last year

  • LD praised the fans for their continued support

Item five: Floodlights and tannoy system

  • LD said the club are happy with the new floodlights and this investment into the club infrastructure will benefit the club and fans for years to come

  • LD said the club is aware of problems in certain areas with the PA system and that this is something that’s being looked into

Item six: Holding Supporters’ Parliament meetings online

  • LD said he thinks it’s important people attend the meetings in person and they will remain in the current format for now

  • LD confirmed minutes of the meeting will be published

  • LD revealed there will be an online fan engagement panel meeting to discuss the club’s 140th anniversary

Item seven: FA Cup tickets

  • MG explained why fans who travelled to South Shields were given priority access to tickets for the second-round tie at Sutton

Item eight: Transfer strategy

  • LD confirmed Tom Ware is still a key part of the recruitment process as Head of Recruitment. The process has been refined to include more data as per his open letter and Tom is a key part of the new transfer committee meetings.
