Town to honour armed forces past and present at Newport game tomorrow

Shrewsbury Town will honour armed forces past and present at our game against Newport tomorrow.

Each year, we are proud to host a Remembrance Match in tribute to service personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

And due to our last four matches being away from home, tomorrow's match is our closest home fixture to Remembrance Sunday (November 10) and Armistice Day (November 11).

Ahead of kick-off, the club will come together to honour the armed forces and remember those who served our country.

Wreaths will be laid by Town head coach Michael Appleton and Newport boss David Hughes as well as Wing Commander Paddy Durnin, Station Commander at RAF Shawbury.

There will then be a rendition of the Last Post followed by a one-minute silence that will begin and end on the referee's whistle.

Further details and timings for our Remembrance Match are as follows:

2:50pm: Flag bearers line up

2:52pm: Players exit the tunnel and line up around the centre circle.

2:54pm: Wing Commander Paddy Durnin, Station Commander RAF Shawbury, Michael Appleton and Newport head coach David Hughes lay remembrance wreaths

2:55pm: For The Fallen is read out and the Last Post is played.

2:56pm: A one-minute silence is marked by the referee's whistle.

2:57pm: The coin toss.

3pm: Kick-off.
