The U18S got their league campaign underway away to Grimsby Town as two early goals saw Salop win 2-0.

A reenactment of last season's North final, with both current league champions facing each other, with us coming out on top. We started on the front foot, with both goals coming inside the first 20minutes of the game. Harry Fallon first intercepted a pass, breaking the defensive line with his first touch before squaring the ball to Kaysha Kameni to open the scoring.

Fallon himself could have made it two shortly after, combining superbly with Alfie Rose (U16) but fired over the bar. We didn’t have to wait long to double the lead, however, Kameni put the goalkeeper under pressure, and his pass went straight to Jeval Thompson-McKenzie, who beat the defender before firing low into the far corner.

Following a long stoppage in play due to an injury to Hall, Grimsby regrouped and upped the intensity; however, we defended well, with Barton rarely tested, seeing the game out comfortably, controlling large parts of the second half.

A positive start to the season and something to build on going into a tough fixture against Carlisle at Lilleshall on Friday.
