Youth Hub Continues to Make Strides in Tackling Youth Unemployment in Shropshire
Shrewsbury Town Foundation's Youth Employability Hub is almost halfway through their third year of the project.
In partnership with the DWP, the Youth Hub aims to secure employment for 18-24-year-olds across Shropshire.
Between March and July of this year, the team has engaged 135 young people and delivered 90 participants to paid employment.
Lee Hadley, the Foundation's Employability Manager, said: "Youth unemployment is a national priority. In our experience, most young people just want a foot on the ladder. We aim to motivate and support them achieve this"
Alongside regular one-to-one meetings, the Youth Hub also put on monthly skill days to help participants broaden their abilities in a number of different sectors.
When asked what she had gained from her experience with the Youth Hub, one participant commented: "I felt like someone believed in me."
The Youth Hub continues to work innovatively and creatively to address the national issue of youth unemployment.
