Shrewsbury Town Launches Academy Media Internship Opportunities for 2026/27

Shrewsbury Town is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our academy media team and help cover matchdays as part of an unpaid internship throughout the 2026/27 season.

Although the positions are unpaid, they offer valuable industry experience and a pathway into the world of football.

Every intern who has joined us over the past five years has gone on to secure a full-time role in football or pursue further education.

The roles are suited to students who are studying towards a relevant degree or recent graduates aiming to get their foot in the door.

You will receive ongoing support from the Shrewsbury Town media team, who will provide guidance and advice throughout the season.

We have three roles available:

• Reporter intern

• Photography intern

• Videographer intern

Reporter Intern

Ideal for aspiring sports journalists, you will help create written content covering our academy teams.

Responsibilities include:

• Writing match previews, reports and post-match reaction

• Providing live updates on academy social media

• Interviewing players and coaches for club content

Essential skills: Strong writing and communication skills, a good knowledge of football, the ability to meet deadlines and a willingness to learn.

Photography Intern

An opportunity for aspiring photographers to capture the action on and off the pitch.

Responsibilities include:

• Photographing academy matches and training sessions

• Providing images for the club's website and social media, with credit for your work

Essential skills: Confidence using a camera, experience with photo editing software and the ability to meet deadlines. Applicants should also have access to their own photography equipment.

Videographer Intern

Ideal for aspiring videographers looking to develop their skills in a professional football environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Filming academy matches and producing highlights packages

• Recording and editing interviews with players and coaching staff

Essential skills: Experience with filming and editing software. Applicants should also have access to their own photography equipment.

What you can expect

All interns will receive support and guidance from the Shrewsbury Town media team, with opportunities to develop their skills and build a portfolio of work in professional football.

Multiple positions may be available across each role.

Matchdays and training sessions will involve evening and weekend work.

Applicants must be reliable, enthusiastic and able to work as part of a team.
