Thank you for your letter. The points you have raised come from caring about Shrewsbury Town Football Club.

You have asked straight questions and you want straight answers.

1. We are told a takeover is progressing and has reached the Independent Football Regulator. Are you co-operating in full with the process, including signing and submitting all required paperwork?

Yes. As you are now aware, the process has just gone through and passed all the EFL’s and IFR’s tests. Every piece of information they’ve asked for has been provided. We haven’t held anything back, and we continue to work with the potential new owner to get things over the line.

2. Are you happy that the buyer you are working with is the right person to take Shrewsbury Town Football Club forward?

We believe so that’s why we’ve come this far. But let me be honest with you, no one knows for certain what a buyer will do once they’ve taken control of a club. We’ve done all we can to satisfy ourselves about their background, their intentions, and their ability to run the club successfully. But nobody can predict the future with 100% certainty, that’s the reality of any change of ownership.

3. If so, can we be told who the buyer is? If not, can we be given a clear and reasonable answer as to why not? This could come as a statement from either yourself or the would-be buyer.

As you are now aware, the consortium seeking to acquire the football club comprises Scott Davidson, Will Dotson, Craig Graham and Brad Friedel. The consortium had expressed a wish to remain private until the acquisition had received formal approval from the relevant bodies. As outlined in previous club statements, we received telephone confirmation from both the IFR and the EFL on Friday, September 4, that the necessary approvals had been granted. Formal written confirmation followed on Monday, September 7. Following discussions between the football club, the consortium and the IFR, it was subsequently agreed that the names of those in the consortium would be made public on Friday, September 11.

4. What are the likely timescales to this process? It seems to have dragged on for some time, and more transparency on this point would ease anxiety among the supporter base at large.

Our initial letter of intent was exchanged on March 16, 2026. The process has gone on longer than any of us wanted. Regulatory checks, finances, legal work - none of it can be rushed if we want to get it right. Having passed the relevant tests, we are now in the final stages. I cannot promise you a date, but we’re pushing for completion as quickly as we possibly can.

5. Should this takeover deal not be completed, do you have the necessary resources available to fund a competitive budget both for the remainder of this season and the next one too?

In the running of any business there has to be a contingency in place to monitor and react swiftly to any changes that may occur. A competitive budget has always been provided, and we will continue to do so for this season and next season if required.

6. What can we as supporters do to assist the club in a smooth and orderly transition to a new ownership group?

Keep doing what you have always done: back this football club and the 11 new signings we made over the summer. Give them time to gel and let's remind ourselves that seven of our first 10 games will be played away from home. Please get behind Gavin and the players and give the process the time and space it needs to work.When new owners come in, your welcome will be the first and most important message they get about what this football club means. I have been at this football club for 30 years. I have seen the best of times and the worst of times, and I know exactly how you are feeling right now. Football has changed, I have said that before and I truly believe new investment and ownership is what Shrewsbury Town urgently needs. Until that day, we continue to strive to do the right thing for supporters, for the community and for the future of Shrewsbury Town Football Club.
